St. John Ambulance Brigade of Ireland is delighted to announce a series of information nights in 2010. The events will be held at Brigade Headquarters at Lumsden House, 29 Upper Leeson Street, Dublin. It is open to anyone who is interested in obtaining information about joining our organisation. Our next information night is the 21st of September, 2010 at 8:15pm. Please contact our Headquarters office for further details.
The purpose of the information nights is to give participants an idea of who we are and what we do. We will explain the objectives of the Brigade and how we serve the community. We will also outline the requirements for membership, and the type of training that is available should you choose to join. There is absolutely no obligation. We are always looking for bright and enthusiastic people to volunteer with the St John Ambulance Brigade of Ireland. Our vision is that first aid should be readily available to everyone, no matter where they are or what they are doing at the onset of illness.
Our unpaid volunteers come from all walks of life. We have paramedics, doctors and nurses but we also have students, electricians, and engineers. The Brigade is open to anyone who shares our ideals and is willing to make a commitment to give up a little of their free time. As a uniformed volunteer, you will get to attend many public events including festivals, concerts, community and sporting events. We cover GAA, soccer, and rugby as well as many other sports. You will also have the occasional opportunity to travel to Cork, Limerick, Belfast and overseas for competitions and large events. Most important of all though is that you will have the opportunity to care for your fellow human beings and play as part of a team devoted to saving lives. While out on duty, your primary responsibility will always be to provide first aid. However, there is no rule to say that you can’t enjoy the events you attend. To arrange to attend the meeting, please contact our Education Secetary at least two days prior to the event by clicking here. |
